Vintage Wedding Cake Design

For some time now, fashionable wedding themes have included modern vintage and 'shabby chic' designs. Beautiful soft shades of dusky pink and sage greens, light golds, lace, victoriana and flowers: the trend is very much alive and doesn't show any signs of disappearing any time soon. As a result, as you can imagine, over the last year I have made quite a lot of beautiful vintage styled wedding cakes.

Piped lace work patterns taken from the bride’s dress have been popular, along with shimmery white cakes with beautiful sugar flowers. Wedding cake designs with sugar swags and over the top sugar floral displays are really making a comeback along with cakes that combine the classic styles of vintage and modern.

I have always studied interiors and fabrics for design inspiration, but now I often find myself on Portobello Road or in antique shops scouring the shelves for vintage porcelain, table cloths and cake stands. You can find some lovely designs on plates, cups and table linen.

If you are having a vintage themed wedding, think about using a range of different vintage props to give your wedding an eclectic and individual feel.
