Planning a Honeymoon
It’s traditional for the groom to make arrangements for the honeymoon and keep the destination a secret! Only give enough information to enable the bride to know what to pack.
When deciding where to go you must first consider the time of year. Most weddings in the UK are in the summer months, but it isn’t necessarily summer in some of the more popular destinations. The Maldives rainy season for instance typically runs from May to October and The Caribbean is a hurricane hot-spot in September. This makes choosing the right destination at the right time of year extremely important.
If you are planning a multi destination trip don’t try and do too much. The lead up to the wedding can often be stressful so a few days unwinding at the start of the honeymoon are essential. Spending the day after the wedding with family and friends and then departing the day after will enable you to enjoy all the feedback and gossip.
When booking, make sure you get expert advice and consider the planning, working progress. You might change your mind on the destination which could affect visas and jabs, or the type of accommodation and cost. Also, think carefully about booking the honeymoon in your wife’s new married name. It may be best to stay with the name on the passport and change later, but the most important aspect is to get it right in the end.
