It was in 1995 that I recognised a gap in the market for designated co-ordinators to help couples through the wedding planning process saving them time, money and disappointment.
I embarked on market research which involved standing outside bridal fairs questioning couples about what they were struggling to find, what they were paying, what was the worst part of planning a wedding and how much would they pay to have someone take away all that stress and guarantee them a fantastic day?
I then set about establishing a reliable team of suppliers and 8 months later launched my business in November 1996.
It was a tough first couple of years developing the business, as not only was it a new business that I had to promote, but also no one really knew what a wedding co-ordinator did, so I was trying to earn money by getting clients but also having to create market awareness.
I contacted all the bridal publications, started writing articles and lectures and was soon being featured in publications and became a regular speaker for the London Wedding Show. In April 1997 I was asked to take part in the ‘Bride Guide’ on Lorraine Kelly’s programme on GMTV.
I am now established as one the country’s leading wedding co-ordinators. My famous clients include Joan Collins, Barbara Windsor, Greg Kinnear, Sacha Mascolo-Tarbuck, Des O’Connor and Ronni Ancona. I was also GMTV’s wedding expert and featured on the show for the Interactive wedding where I designed various aspects of a wedding for the viewers to vote on.
I am asked to write for various wedding magazines and I am the wedding expert for AOL and Hudson’s Wedding Guide. In 2005 I launched my DVD, ‘From This Day Forward’, a guide to planning the perfect wedding. I am also frequently hired as a consultant for wedding related TV shows, new venues and other suppliers within the wedding industry.
I am noted for my imaginative flair; no two weddings are ever the same. My goal is to achieve a wedding that is truly representative of the couple involved; a wedding that is individual to them and one that guests enjoy and appreciate.
