Tips to Help Cut Wedding Costs Without Scrimping on Style
Whatever your wedding budget you need to stick to it, and we all like to save money where we can. Follow my top tips on cutting wedding costs.
- Marry out of season - Summer Saturdays are popular times to get married and, hence, suppliers will often charge more. Consider a Friday wedding, and avoid the height of summer.
- Limit the guest list - Your biggest wedding spend is likely to be on catering so if you can keep your guest list down, you’ll save on the food and drink. Have an intimate wedding and a big party after your honeymoon.
- Stick to seasonal produce - Seasonal flowers and food are generally less expensive and better quality. Keep it simple and use what nature intended!
- Call in the favours - If you have an aunt who makes great cakes or a cousin who sings in a band... now’s the time to ask them whether they’d like to be involved in your wedding day.
- Decorate cleverly - Many couples spend a fortune adorning areas with flowers and decorations that are never seen. Focus your attention on areas that your guests will see and enjoy - great table centrepieces and the front of your ceremony room.
- Spend where it’s important - You’re planning your wedding your way, so you should only spend on areas that are important to you. If you’re not a big fan of flowers but you love shoes, you know where you should allocate more of your budget.
- Honeymoon close to home - There are an abundance of beautiful, romantic destinations in Europe so you don’t need to spend a fortune travelling half way around the world. If you have your heart set on far flung shores, you could always honeymoon six months after the wedding when you’ve had time to save up.
