2012 Bridal Accessory Trends

So what will be hot in 2012? The bridal catwalks showcased a glorious mix of 1920’s style dresses and structured skirts, as well as more romantic Victorian inspired dresses with corsets, ruffles and of course lace necklines. Vintage is still big news and the range of accessories available for brides-to-be is set to be even more exciting in the new season.

Antique silver headbands are an incredibly stylish and popular alternative to the classic tiara and work well with retro and vintage designs. I think in 2012 we will see headbands getting bolder – real statement pieces rather than the thin single bands with side detailing we have seen in recent years - with exquisite detail, sparkling geometric stones and floral depictions.

Jewelled soft satin ribbon bands and ethnic-inspired headpieces are a nice way to set off the more bohemian style dresses which were also seen on the new season catwalks, as are feather fascinators and fabric flower pins and headbands.

For brides-to-be who have always wanted to wear a tiara on their big day, the look to go for is classic and regal – pieces that have been beautifully crafted using gold or silver plating, freshwater pearls and crystals.

As for jewellery, beautiful art deco style earrings and bracelets mean you don’t need to wear heavy pieces – they can still make an impact through the pretty designs, and as with everything balance is the key, so if you are wearing a statement headpiece then more delicate jewellery is the key to getting the look right.
