Bold Wedding Colour Schemes

Typically wedding colour schemes are assumed to be soft, muted or pastel colours. They are deemed romantic and also there is a wide variety of flower options available in these colours.

Bold colours are definitely making a more regular appearance, and I think a lot of this has to do with the increasing variety of décor options that are becoming available here in the UK. In this I include table linen, chairs, vases, candelabra, glassware and stationery.

A bold coloured vase makes a wonderful centrepiece for your tables and this can be further complimented with co-ordinating linen and glassware.

Couples are becoming more adventurous with their choice of stationery, designing something that reflects their taste and favourite colours. Marquee weddings offer a great blank canvas to work on where you can create any colour scheme you want.

The photos here are from a wedding this summer. We chose vibrant purple and lime as the colour scheme but did not overplay it, instead choosing more muted coloured table linen and glassware that complimented the vibrant flowers and lighting designs. The result still has punch, but remains stylish and, to the greater extent, timeless.

If you are considering using bold colours, my recommendation is to use those shades in a few key areas such as the flowers, stationery or chairs and then compliment those features with co-ordinating linen, glassware etc.

A bold coloured invitation is a great introduction to your wedding and I think an exciting invitation to receive. Again, don’t overplay it; perhaps just use 2 colours, one for the card and one for the text. Emily and Jo and Magenta Ink! both have some wonderful monochrome designs.
