Top 5 Tips for Creating the Perfect Wedding Look
For those brides who have decided to do their own wedding day make-up, here are my top 5 tips for creating the perfect look:

- To get sparkling bridal eyes, use eye drops like Optrex Eye Brightening Drops to remove redness. It can also be used to help with any red blemishes you may have on your wedding day. To do this, freeze a drop of Optrex in a spoon, place it frozen over the blemish, hold there for 3-4 minutes and this will shrink the swelling.
- To reduce shine in the all important wedding photos, avoid using a foundation containing SPF. Sun Protection Factor reflects the flash and makes the face look a different colour to the body in photos. Try ‘Foundation Stick’ from Bobbi Brown as it is SPF free.
- To help your base foundation/concealer stay longer on the face, before setting it with powder, use a standard face tissue such as Kleenex to dab off excess moisture. This will prevent layering of oil and powder on the face and keep the skin from appearing shiny. To set the foundation for a long lasting effect, use a powder such as Loose Setting Powder from Laura Mercier. Use a cotton pad to push and press the powder into the skin, and lightly buff off any excess with a powder brush.
- To help your eyeshadow last for up to 24 hours, prep your eyes with an eye shadow primer (try Trish McEvoy Eye Base Essentials or Laura Mercier Eye Basics).
- To make your eyes really defined on wedding photos, consider wearing false eye lashes. There are hundreds of different styles on the market, but my favourites are Ardell Invisiband Lashes which you can buy in larger Boots stores or on the internet. Before applying false lashes apply one coat of waterproof mascara such as Diorshow in Waterproof, which will make the application of the lashes very easy. To ensure a natural look, choose a style that is no longer than your own lashes. Cut each lash in four even pieces and glue them one by one for a comfortable and secure fit (I recommend Duo Eyelash Adhesive in dark, which is also waterproof). After the glue has dried, reapply mascara to the false lashes, but his time using lengthening mascara such as Diorshow Iconic, concentrating on the very top of the lashes and not touching the roots.
Finally, and most importantly of all relax! A relaxed smile on the day is every bit is beautiful as even the best wedding makeover!
