Vintage Wedding Cakes
Many vintage wedding cakes are iced and decorated with lots of curly piping, tiny flowers and pearls, on a white or Champagne satin coloured background, which instantly transforms a cake to resemble old lace work, or indeed the decorative silk and satin of a wedding dress.

One lovely addition to this very simple colour palette yet intricately decorated detail is some wonderfully large and blousy blooms in faded vintage colours, which will stand out magnificently, yet be in keeping with the bride’s colour choice of flowers for her day.
These two choices are something to take into consideration when choosing a wedding cake - the fact that it can match your wedding dress and flowers, and even depict a toning colour from your bridesmaids’ dresses. However, you can be completely contrary and choose a wedding cake that is decorated in a vintage style, which is a work of art in its own right and does not match anything at all. It is entirely acceptable to have a cake as a masterpiece on it’s own without corresponding to the dress and flowers; it can look magnificent yet still in keeping with the vintage style.
The favours for your wedding could be a lovely decorated baby fairy cake in an old Charity shop teacup or you can offer these to your guests in a see through box for them to take home.
