Winter Bridal Wear

It seems a little odd to be thinking of winter weddings after our recent late September heat wave, but I think if you ask any bride-to-be if they dream of snow on their winter wedding day, they would most definitely answer yes, much as they would dream of guaranteed sunshine for a spring or summer wedding. Of course, with the right elements, a winter wedding can be a glamorous wonderland.

The concept of a winter wedding holds romantic visions of cosy log fires, high ceilings with original beams, large picture windows overlooking glistening snowy grounds and fairy lights. Guests arriving in elegant evening wear, their own sparkly, pretty things twinkling. The bride all in white or ivory arriving at the venue by horse and carriage, a fur rug over her knees, and a fur cape and hand muff to keep her warm; flower girls in red all Christmassy.

Mistletoe greeting guests, and mulled wine and hot canapés to ward off the cold. A pianist playing carols adds to the atmosphere while everyone takes their seats for dinner.

Arranging a winter wedding can potentially save you money. The popular spring/summer months have hotels and venues fully booked so are less likely to give discounts.

Think about how you want to look; an elegant look of Hollywood, with the groom in a soave suit and the bride in a white or ivory long silk gown.

Evoke the season with diamonds or diamond like jewellery and embellishments. Look for wraps, ostrich feather shrugs or jackets, or organza or satin coats.

Of course, however romantic you deem snow to be, precautions have to be considered, after all, snow is frozen water and water is wet, so you may need to pull out the wellies!
