Lily of the Valley Inspired Wedding Bouquets
I have to begin by saying how excited I am to be writing for The Wedding Community; and what a way to start…a spot of Royal Wedding chat!
When Catherine Middleton married Prince William a few weeks ago, seasonality was the order of the day. She also used the language of flowers to choose her wedding day blooms. The language of flowers was a Victorian means of hiding secret messages to others using flowers. Romantic eh?
All of the seasonal Royal Wedding flowers were grown in the UK, which is a tip I give all of my brides. The more seasonal the flowers you choose for your wedding day, the better quality they will be – and of course, better value!
The Royal bride chose Lily of the Valley (meaning return of happiness), Hyacinth (beauty), Sweet William (gallantry… and how cute?) and Myrtle (a Royal tradition, meaning hope and love) to make up her delicate bouquet.
Lily of the Valley is a bridal classic, but one which can be expensive… if of course you don't have an estate to cut it from!

So if you can't afford a whole bouquet of the beautiful scented bloom, why not opt for a larger flower with just a small amount of Lily of the Valley included? With just ten stems, your bouquet will still smell and look amazing, and you too can look like a proper princess!
I have already seen some of the other Royal Wedding trends sneaking in to my new consultations. Three brides have asked for quotes for trees (not quite as big as Catherine and William’s), with plenty of mentions of Lily of the Valley and different foliages.
Thank you Princess Catherine for having very fine taste in flowers.
