Seasonal Wedding Cakes
A lot of brides nowadays try to use the seasons in the theme of their wedding, and as bridal flowers are seasonal this theme can be taken through the rest of the wedding. The design of the wedding cake is a great way to really celebrate the season, to compliment the flowers and create a seasonal centre point.
Whether you choose to get married in the Spring, Summer, Autumn or Winter, by choosing the right colour scheme, decoration and flavour of your wedding cake you can really celebrate the time of year in which you are getting married.
Spring Wedding Cakes
Spring sings fresh clean colours and lots of soft pastel tones. Daisies, Lily of the Valley, blossom and paper whites are delightful little flowers which can be easily made in sugar and look gorgeous scattered over a tiered wedding cake or cupcakes. Choose clean fresh and simple flavours to go with the Spring time of year such as lemon and vanilla.

Summer Wedding Cakes
Celebrate the summer with bright colours; bright pinks and blues on white or ivory cakes work well for this time of year. Roses, peonies and hydrangeas are really popular flowers used in the bride’s bouquet and as centrepieces, and again can be made in sugar. Painting bright floral designs onto the cake is a lovely alternative to a more traditional looking wedding cake. Try combining the two to create something a little more unusual. Keep flavours light and summery rather than going for a dense cake.

Autumn Wedding Cakes
Chocolate wedding cakes are perfect for an Autumnal themed wedding. Splash touches of gold and bronze, decorate them with sugar leaves dusted in oranges and reds, or add little marzipan, sugar or miniature fresh apples and pears. Soft ‘cappuccino’ coloured icing with coffee or apple and cinnamon flavoured sponge is a nice alternative if you are not keen on chocolate.

Winter Wedding Cakes
White on White wedding cakes with glistening snowflakes, flowers and crystals are popular winter designs. Metallic colours created by dusting with lustre or applying with a spray also make the cake look really festive if you are having a Christmas wedding. Traditional fruit cake is in keeping with the festive spirit, although you might like to opt for another flavour as well to cater for those who prefer something a bit lighter.
