Wedding Stationery Styles
Since starting my wedding planning business in 1996, one of the areas where I have seen a big change is in the variety of wedding stationery now available to couples planning their wedding.
Wedding stationery styles are no longer limited to just the traditional style and look so typical of the quintessential British wedding. Instead it has become an integral part of the total look of a wedding day - a way to add colour, personality and style to your special day.
The wedding invitation is the introduction of your guests to the sort of wedding you are planning. It is a way of expressing this and creating the initial buzz about your big day.
The variety of wedding stationers in the market place is huge and diverse. Some specialise in printing styles, some in cutting techniques and others in specialised materials. There really is something for everyone. I so enjoy the creativity that has become part of the wedding stationery organisation.

Your wedding stationery can co-ordinate with your colour scheme or theme and can also be a stand-alone feature that adds character to your wedding.
As menus, place cards and table names are all displayed on the dining tables, this can be a way to introduce a colour that perhaps is difficult to find in flowers or table linen.
Wedding stationery can also personalise your day, perhaps by having a monogram created that you carry through your stationery. You could use a favourite image you have of the two of you and carry this through.
Naming tables has become increasingly popular over recent times and is an obvious way to have fun with or bespoke your tables. I have had clients name their tables after flowers, their cats, favourite restaurants, champagnes, famous couples, movies and holiday destinations.

Some of my favourite wedding stationers are:
- Acushla Creations – Wonderful papers that feel like fabric
- Louise Richardson – Without doubt one of the most creative ‘artists’ out there
- Magenta Ink! – Beautiful and consistently inspiring stationery
- Emily & Jo – I enjoy their clever use of imagery
- Leonie Gordon – Incorporates lovely fabrics into her work
- Imagine – The best for jewels and embellishments
- Chartula Studio – Specialise in laser cut designs
- Libra Designs – Wonderful variety of contemporary designs but I think they are the best for the wallet style invitation in particular
