5 Ways to Avoid Easter Weight Gain
Easter is the holiday of chocolate and more chocolate. So how can you enjoy yourself and have your fill without returning to work with weight gained over Easter?
- Don’t be a complete couch potato
Don’t think that just because the gym is closed you need to chain yourself to the sofa for four days – aim to do 20 minutes of gardening a day, take a long, brisk walk after Sunday lunch, or even do 20 crunches on waking! - Make wise chocolate choices
As far as your waistline’s concerned, hollow eggs contain far fewer calories than those stuffed with goodies, while dark chocolate is healthier than milk – in a study, dark chocolate was found to boost blood antioxidant levels by nearly 20%. - Workout in front of the TV
Crank up the volume and get moving – you can make a difference in just ten minutes. Forget your basic moves and step it up a gear: combine lunges with bicep curls, squats with an overhead press, tricep dips with a leg raise etc. Work on those all those muscle groups for a greater calorie-burn. - Enjoy healthier Easter treats!
Hot cross buns are about the healthiest Easter treat. If you go easy on the butter they’re a good starchy snack packed full of sweet, high fibre raisins. - Cook smarter
Opt for high protein meals to keep food cravings under control - choose lean cuts of meat and bulk a meal up with plenty of high antioxidant steamed vegetables to get glowing skin, plenty of energy and a smaller dress size.
