Ideas for Prince William's Wedding Suit
I am intrigued to find out what Prince William will be wearing at his wedding. Will it be uniform, traditional top hat and tails created by a royally appointed bespoke tailor or something a tad more contemporary such as a really sharp fitted suit? I have to assume that it would be the traditional top hat and tails, but what can be done to bring this style bang up to date?
Having seen the royal chaps most elegantly dressed by some of the finest suit makers in the world over the years, traditional fabrics with the traditional type of fitting will more than likely be the order of the day. Well let’s see what we could do to take this traditional idea and transform it into a modern version.

Tailcoat
Obviously the normal sizes such as chest, coat length etc. will be required BUT let us take this and modernise. Let‘s use a lighter weight fabric with a bit of interest such as a Wool Silk mix or Wool Mohair mix to exude interest. Then taking the normal sizes, let’s narrow the sleeve widths and create a tighter armhole giving a modern fit straight away. Using a lighter weight fabric usually allows you to create a slightly more slender fit around a gent’s waist area. 1 x updated morning suit done. Oh yes and one more thing, in keeping with the bridesmaids’ colour scheme, why not put in a slightly funky lining?
Trousers
Irrespective of the fabric, let’s narrow things a bit. Obviously a guy’s physique will determine the style that you should create. Given the Prince’s shape, a nice, flat fronted trouser narrowed at the bottom, not quite 60’s style but close, slightly shorter than normal because perhaps the footwear could be a boot instead of a shoe, perhaps a Chelsea boot style.
Waistcoat
I think breaking from tradition here is a great idea. Whatever the colour scheme, a bright, satin version of the wedding colour and in a double breasted style would carry a mix of modern and tradition all in one.
Other Accessories
Tie or Cravat, lively buttonhole or toned down? The neck tie is very popular at the moment in our formal wear world so sticking with this again continues the traditionally modern idea. With a matching top pocket hanky, a sedate buttonhole such as a white calla lily should complement nicely.
So there are my thoughts. Whatever William wears I am sure he will look every inch a true Prince.
