Creating a Celebrity Style Wedding
Hold the front page, have you heard the news? It’s a celebrity wedding, party, charity event, makeover, cash in the attic bonanza on ice...the list is endless! Nowadays we use the ‘C’ word all the time, but nothing seems to say celebrity more than a wedding. Our weekly glossy magazines are filled with examples of how our favourite stars from the big and small screens tie the knot and we can’t get enough of them!
On one hand you have the extravagance of Elton John and David Furnish’s celebration, which caused a star studded traffic jam outside their home. On the other hand you have the discretely private ceremony of Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi, where only 19 friends and family were present. The choice of whether to have a large or small wedding is entirely yours, but if you want to add that touch of celebrity style, how do you make your civil partnership stand out from the rest? Here are some of my tips.
- Go glam! Take a tip from the US, where weddings are frequently black tie and evening dress affairs. A classic evening suit oozes style and glamour and on a woman (think Carrie Bradshaw) makes a stunning statement.
- Walk the red carpet, literally! It won’t cost a lot for that little strip of colour, so make a big Hollywood entrance (but don’t forget to get your guests to ‘pap’ you as you come in)!
- Get some muscle - Security that is; this goes for regular weddings too. There’s nothing worse than having those annoying neighbours or relatives that you didn’t invite at your celebration. They’re ones who have a habit of turning up anyway and ruining the seating plan. Invest in a couple of doormen for a few hours to give peace of mind and an air of exclusivity.
- Create a guest list. Think glamorous night club, immaculate door hosts and welcoming staff. Whether your civil partnership is in a village hall or a stately home, the real key to a celebrity wedding is making your guests feel like celebrities. They are there to share one of the most important days in your lives, so make them feel like a million dollars.
