Entertainment for the Royal Wedding

How exciting it is that we have a Royal Wedding this year! If you’re also getting married this year, what a fantastic way of getting some inspiration and wedding ideas that will make you too feel like a princess!

I think the Royal Wedding of course has to be classy, sophisticated and, well, the Queens going to be there so it really should be fit for a Queen! However, Wills and Kate are a young, fun couple so I think they should try to gain a mix of royal class with their own element of youth and enthusiasm.

The Royal Couple have already been doing things in a somewhat less ‘traditional’ way, including asking their guests to donate to charity rather than buy wedding gifts, and I believe this will set a precedent for the whole wedding.

There have been all sorts of rumours regarding the entertainment for the wedding, with hints that some top class performers may be making an appearance, including Paul McCartney, Phil Collins and Joss Stone. Even P-Diddy has offered his services (lol, can you imagine the Queen ‘getting down’ to a bit of Diddy?!)

If I was planning the music and entertainment for the Royal Wedding, here’s how I would do it:

As Guests Arrive and During The Wedding Ceremony

Perhaps something like the London Philharmonic Orchestra here would be lovely, with a guest spot song sung by Elton John (as he was such a great personal friend to Diana).

During the Wedding Breakfast

I think if Joss Stone is willing she would be fabulous here! William is known to be a bit of a fan and I could imagine her doing a fantastic jazz/soul set over dinner. This could be interspersed with a harpist who would fill the room with soft, dulcet tones.

The First Dance

This has been rumoured to be choreographed by Strictly Come Dancing’s Arlene Phillips and it been has joked that something like ‘Don’t Stop Believing’ by Journey would be great! I like the idea of doing something a little different for the couple’s first dance, and I think that whatever it is it would be fantastic to have the original artist performing it!

Perhaps Adele’s ‘Feel My Love’ would be lovely, or Desiree’s ‘Kissing You’ from Romeo and Juliet? I could imagine both of those songs to be choreographed quite traditionally – it could be quite a magical first dance.

The Dinner Dance

Well, this just has to be a super-band doesn’t it, made up of the world’s top musicians! I can imagine them having the likes of Phil Collins, Paul McCartney, Queen and other legends of the music industry joining together to create one big party!

I like the idea of doing something similar to the Queen’s Jubilee celebrations, which featured well known artistes, some doing their own songs and lots doing well known covers to get everyone in the party spirit!

It will be so exciting to see what the Royal Couple end up choosing, but you can guarantee it’s going to fabulous and unforgettable!

Best of luck to William and Kate, and of course the rest of you who are getting married in 2011! It’s going to be a fantastic year!
