Royal Wedding Venues

The big wedding of 2011 is sure to be the long-awaited marriage of Prince William to Kate Middleton.   It’s been announced that the royal wedding will take place on Friday 29th April 2011 at Westminster Abbey, but it got me thinking; what if Prince William and Kate Middleton were still looking for a wedding venue?

Wedding in Wales

As the son of the Prince of Wales it would be nice for William to marry Kate on Welsh soil.  Maesmor Hall in North Wales dates back to the 11th century and was at one time frequented by the Princes of Wales.  A grand country house surrounded by 150 acres of woodland, Maesmor Hall would make a wonderfully secluded and private location for the royal family to relax and enjoy their celebrations away from the public eye.

Chic Country Estate

As polo lovers, the Princes might enjoy holding a wedding at Gaynes Park Estate, which hosts the Duke of Essex Polo Trophy Cup.  Gaynes Park is a contemporary chic barn wedding venue within the estate that has a beautiful orangery licensed for wedding ceremonies, a walled garden, spacious Mill Barn for dining and a charming cottage.  With its beautiful surroundings, close proximity to London and sterling reputation for excellent food and service, Gaynes Park is sure to be a hit.

Illustrious Country House

For true glamour and grandeur, Trafalgar Park near Salisbury would be an ideal choice for the royal couple.  With historical links to Admiral Lord Nelson, this impressive Grade I listed house has a magnificent baroque hall where the royal couple could have their wedding ceremony, a fabulous hand painted mural in the Cipriani Room and formal terraced gardens.  In these elegant surroundings any bride is sure to feel like a princess.

Castle Wedding

The ultimate venue for a royal wedding has to be a castle, and where could be better than Inverlochy Castle in the Highlands of Scotland, which already has royal connections.  Queen Victoria stayed there in 1873 while on a visit to Balmoral and wrote in her diary “I never saw a lovelier or more romantic spot”.  Inverlochy lies on the bank of a vast loch overlooking Ben Nevis and some of Scotland’s most majestic scenery.
