Ideas for Kate Middleton's Wedding Dress

Well I couldn’t start my January article without mentioning the fact that we have not one but two Royal Weddings in 2011!

The wedding industry is simply too excited for words, and with everyone speculating about which designers will be making the wedding dresses I thought I would share my thoughts on what style of dresses  I think the girls will be wearing, and give you some ideas about how you can create your own unique regal bridal look.

Kate Middleton already has a favourite designer Issa, who has designed many of Kate’s incredible outfits including the stunning Sapphire Blue Dress that she wore during the announcement of her engagement. Although it would be fantastic to see how she would translate her designs into something bridal, it only seems fair that the bridal designers should get the opportunity to showcase their expert skills.

One of my favourite bridal designers is Jacqueline Byrne who makes the most beautiful classic style dresses. I love the way she has added this amazing lace overcoat to a very simple dress to really add a different dynamic to the bride's outfit and ensure she makes a grand entrance.

British designer Phillipa Lepley is being hotly tipped as one of the favourites to design Kate’s wedding dress and having seen many of Phillipa’s beautiful designs myself I think she would be an excellent choice. Phillipa’s dresses are classic and elegant and would be reflective of the style that would be associated with a traditional royal wedding. She has used some beautiful and varied types of lace in some of her past designs and she works with the finest quality fabrics.

I would suggest that you take a peek at some of Lisa Redman’s amazing dress designs for a contemporary twist on the royal wedding. This stunning sleek design is made much more interesting by the beautiful fan detailing on the top half of the dress. You could always team this with a chic jacket or bolero to make it more appropriate for a church setting.

Another hotly tipped favourite is Bruce Oldfield. Bruce’s slightly more edgy designs would perfectly reflect Kate’s modern style and would flatter her amazing figure without being overly sexy.

In terms of her accessories I would imagine that Kate will have an amazing selection of royal trinkets to choose from, but it will need to be something that compliments her incredible diamond and sapphire engagement ring. If you want to really sparkle and make a statement on your wedding day I would suggest one of these unique vintage hair bands by Magpie Vintage or an incredible pair of vintage earrings by Passionate About Vintage.

In my next article I will be speculating  about who will be designing Zara’s dress and giving you tips on how to steal her bridal style.
