Groomswear Trends 2011

I have to say that guys getting married today are so lucky compared to those who got hitched in the past.  To say that there is better quality and a greater variety of groomswear available nowadays compared to a few years ago is an understatement, and what is available is now driven by the requirements of the modern groom.

Although still popular, traditional Tails have taken a back seat to more modern versions. Slimmer fit lounge suits using decent wearable fabrics are now more popular than the typical thick wool mix often found in the formal wear world.  Add to the mix hugely vibrant colours for neckwear and waistcoats and even a standard suit can look pretty fab.

Until recently waistcoats were a little off trend and this made our job a tad difficult. Most recent clients were anti waistcoat, but as formal wear tends to require such a garment they felt they “had to have one”. Thankfully waistcoats are now trendy again. Added to a modern fit, usually light to mid grey lounge suit, or a trim fit tails outfit again grey being the most popular colour, the modern outfit can now be created to exude a modern look based on traditional values.

Now when I say vibrant colours, Cadbury’s purple, bright peacock or fuchsia pinks are all the rage. These are often required to ensure that the men’s clothing ties in with the wedding colour scheme.  I believe that natural fabrics such as pure silk showcase these colours well. This type of fabric really does show off the colours, and quality fabrics can only enhance any outfit.
