Choosing Your Wedding Colour Scheme
Over the years my clients have fallen pretty evenly into one of two camps when faced with choosing a colour scheme for their wedding – those that want the same 3 colours from the outset and those that have an array that they like and feel in a quandary about having to choose.
Although most weddings themes do tend to be based around 3 or 4 colours, there truly is no hard and fast rule on this. If you have an array of colours that you like then there are many ways that you can work this into your wedding décor and still have a stylish and coordinated look.
Here are some examples:
Bridesmaid dresses – I think it looks really stylish to have your bridesmaids in tones of the same colour. Say for example you choose blue, they can wear anything from ice blue, through to aqua, to navy. The shades will blend and you can ‘unite’ them by having all your bridesmaids carry the same bouquet or have the same coloured sash.

Table décor – I often choose 2 shades of cloths. The photo shows ivory and olive green. On some tables I had ivory cloths with green chargers and ivory napkins and the others had green linen with ivory chargers. It can also work to have different coloured table cloths and napkins.
Flowers – a mixture of flower types in various shades of your chosen colours looks dramatic and adds interest to the room. It makes the eye wander rather than fixate on each arrangement. I particularly like this look.

Stationery – you could think about having your invitations in one shade, your order of service in another and your menu and place cards in yet another one, all still blending in tone. You could also have the stationery ‘edged’ in a different tone and have the text printed in another. Tonal colours on stationery look elegant.
