Wedding Stationery Trends 2011

Our last snowflake inspired table plan arrived at its destination in December, then it was time to launch into 2011 weddings and boy are these going to be gorgeous! Put simply, 2011 is all about optimism, fun and vibrancy. Couples are making their mark on their wedding styling; originality and personality are key.

In terms of wedding stationery, the starting point is COLOUR, then styling. I’ve noticed a difference in the way couples approach colour. It used to be a single colour woven through the wedding to create a bold statement, however 2011 is going to be all about layering and combining colours. As a stationery designer it’s important to be versatile and offer a sophisticated pallet that layers colour in a sensible and harmonious way. When I was an art student we learnt all about ‘discordant colours’, it’s a good thing to read up on if you are thinking of putting together a palette of colours.

In terms of styling, Vintage is huge for this year. We are seeing fewer requests for crystals, and styles have moved onto a more understated look with gorgeous pastel shades including purple, yellow and candy. Bows are important – but make sure you tie them correctly as there’s nothing worse than a wonky bow! At Two by Two Weddings HQ we are busy working on styles that layer colour. These designs create a vibrant and unique look and most importantly enable the theme to thread through all the elements of the day.

Orange and Yellow:

This season it's all about brights teamed with white, and brights on bright. Our 2011 / 2012 palette features coral, stone and yellow. Think Tuscan sunset, think bold!

Red and Crimson:

Red infused with lavender, putty, white makes for a fun, rich palette. Add petal shades for a softer look.

Maroon and Claret:

Traditionally claret has been teamed with white, this season however it pairs up with sunshine yellow and pebble to create an energetic look.

Indigo and Purple:

Cool, deep, rich jewel tones are perfect for autumn weddings. Team lavender with lilac and set on stone for a wonderfully rich look.

Lilac and Violet:

Lavender, shore and sand create a whimsical, soft look. Subtle shades work together to create an understated elegance.

Pale Pink:

Team pale pink with candy shades for an upbeat look. Take inspiration from seaside promenades, layer candy, mango and rock to create a playful base palette.

Magenta:

Team magenta with eggplant and putty for a deep, rich look. Perfect for a modern, elegant summer look.

Happy planning!
