5 Tips To Help You Get Back On Track After Christmas

Whether your New Year’s Resolution is to look a million dollars in a backless wedding dress or just shift that mince pie tum, we’ve got the solution to ease yourself back into the swing of things...

  1. Start back slowly. Whether or not your existing routine went out the window at Christmas, or whether you’re just starting out, start slowly. You don’t want to suffer with soreness, fatigue or worse still, injury.
  2. Forget the scales. You can feel your trousers are tight - you don’t need an arbitrary scales reading to make you feel worse. Get cracking fulfilling your good intentions before you start collecting figures.
  3. Shrink your stomach. No, that doesn’t mean contemplating a gastric band – eating little and often will help to literally shrink your stomach, so you require less food over time to fill you up.
  4. Book a skiing holiday (or if the pound hasn’t recovered against the Euro from the time of writing, go rock climbing). Wall climbing, rock climbing and skiing all provide great, dynamic workouts you wouldn’t really get in the gym – and they tend to be more fun too.
  5. Keep your goals manageable. Don’t be tempted to get lost fantasising about being a size 8 come Valentine’s Day. Think in more modest terms: five press ups when you get out of bed; switching your afternoon choccy bar to a piece of fruit for a month, and so on.
