Winter Wedding Hair and Make-Up Tips

I love the idea of winter weddings; the romance of candlelight, the use of rich bright vibrant colours, the sparkle of the snow and the excitement of Christmas in the air.

We have certainly had the sparkle of the snow, but do you have the sparkle in your hair and skin?

The winter has its drawbacks with the cold drying and chapping our skin and the heating drying out our hair, not to mention we are blow-drying our hair more frequently to stop us catching a cold. Naturally drying your hair is not an option in these temperatures unless you like the odd icicle here or there!

Here are a few winter wedding hair and make-up tips:

  • Use a thermal styler before blow-drying and before using straighteners. I love Argan 'Secret' which is an oil from Marrakesh. It smells wonderful and it’s a brilliant protectant for both blow-drying and heated appliances such as straighteners.
  • Use a Deep Conditioning Treatment on your hair once a week to feed and moisturise your lengths and ends. Brides with fine hair can use treatments but you should stay away from your roots.
  • Have regular facials to keep your skin clear and gleaming.
  • Always use a facial moisturiser with an SPF 15 or above. You will be protecting yourself from signs of ageing whilst keeping your skin safe from the sun’s rays.
  • For dry chapped lips, gently use a toothbrush over your lips to remove dead and flaky skin, and then apply Elizabeth Arden 8hr Cream Lip Protectant stick SPF15. Your lips have to be very kissable remember!
  • Make sure you are constantly using a hand cream. Your hands will be on show on the wedding day and photographed. It’s a great idea to apply some hand cream before going down the aisle as it will make that ring slip on with no worries.
