Girlie Colours Are OK

So you are looking to co-ordinate your groomswear with your wedding colour scheme and your bride has chosen the colour that you dread. Bright Pink?  Yucky green? You are thinking that those colours are OK for a bridesmaid but not me, a fella.

Never fear, done well you can actually accessorise your outfit with this sort of colouring and still look manly. Done badly then uh oh, you may well co-ordinate with a bridesmaid but you may not feel like you are looking too hot.

With all of the experience gleaned from many a year within the formal wear industry, I know that tying in with the colour scheme is not only a must, if you don’t your outfit(s) regardless of the style and whether you hire or purchase, will look out of place.

To this end I believe the only way to create the best outfit, firstly to suit you but a very close second to co-ordinate with the ladies, is to choose a service where you can see and try on as many combinations as you want.  More importantly you should try these things on in the correct size as this, believe it or not could sway your decision. Many formal wear services carry a sample stock in generic sizes and ‘sell off this stock’. They then take your order(s) and then hire in stock from another.  This is fraught with danger but that is another story.

In an ideal world you could visit a formal wear specialist, perhaps with a best man but certainly the bride, and try on an outfit for you and co-ordinated other at the same time. Often a groom or groom and best man are dressed ever so slightly differently to the other bridal party members. This can be a fantastic look or a disaster. The only way to make sure is to try on a few combinations, get the bride’s opinion and of course the experienced wedding specialist who is hopefully offering you advice, alternatives and other general titbits of useful advice.

In summary guys and gals, a little patience, investigation and effort exploring what is or isn’t right for your wedding is well worth it.
