I originally trained in art and design but then couldn’t find the right job or apprenticeship. Then, following a 15 year career as a city broker, I found myself tired with the stress and the long haul business travel and longed to do something creative again. I discovered my love of sugar craft through making a christening cake for a friend (I will never forget how long that first bow and teddy bear took!).
I have always loved cooking and thus the baking side of things was a joy to accomplish. My friends and family sampled cakes for months until the perfect recipes were discovered. I then combined delicious sponges with gorgeous fillings and an ever improving skill in sugar craft.
In the 2007 I left my city job to realise my passion full time and start my own business, Hall of Cakes.
The business is run from my home and last year we moved house to facilitate the business. We have a beautiful Victorian studio and combined with a large workshop, it works perfectly for welcoming clients and creating beautiful wedding and occasional cakes.
We have recently worked with the BBC and Channel Five and regularly appear in National wedding publications. I am delighted to be the wedding cake expert for The Wedding Community.
