Using Paper at Your Wedding
I’m not ashamed to admit I have a problem with paper. In fact, I’m obsessed with it. What a fabulous medium to work with, it’s just so versatile, comes in a range of colours, textures and finishes and is wonderful to sculpt and mould into something beautiful for your wedding day décor.
Having recently worked on a wedding that heavily featured origami cranes (each individually hand crafted from gorgeously patterned origami paper) I felt it only right to share the love…
Cut It Out
Laser cut stationery is a popular choice for wedding stationery, and whilst it’s not the most cost effective as design costs go, it creates a stunning impact with its delicate, lace-like appearance. Introduce this style with your place cards which will become a lovely memento of your day.

Light Up
Jazz up the ordinary candle with a paper lantern or two. They come in a range of shapes, sizes and colours and look gorgeous lined up the aisle or the drive way leading to your wedding venue. Make sure each candle is well sheltered within a jam jar and it’ll be perfectly safe.
You can also cover festoon lighting with paper globe lanterns, giving a splash of colour to any marquee or venue ceiling.

Paper Chains
I absolutely love these customised paper chains that look really cute strung up across the ceiling at your reception. You can even use the individual cuffs as napkin rings too!

Wonderwall
Bring the focus of interest down to your tables with some carefully chosen wallpaper as a table runner. This is a great idea if you’re having a banquet layout with long rows of tables, but can also work as individual place mats. Shop around and find something that matches your colour scheme perfectly.

Confetti
These beautiful little butterflies make a beautiful addition to table dressings when loosely scattered, or as a feature strung up in garlands.

Pay attention to what you’re holding your confetti in on the day and craft paper cones from wrapping paper – I love the idea of using up old sheet music for this.

Coming Up Roses
Alternative bridal bouquets are the order of the day and if you’re looking for something a little different, try paper- it doesn’t wilt and it keeps forever! Etsy have a great range including buttonholes which are worth a look.

Origami Amor
Japanese legend has it that a thousand paper cranes given to the bride and groom on their wedding day grants them a thousand years of happiness and prosperity. It might be too much to take on in the literal sense but these gorgeous paper structures make very thoughtful gifts for your guests and can be used in any number of ways - how about using a selection of sizes to decorate your wedding cake or hang from trees in mobiles?
