The Taming of the Celebrity Hen Party and Stag Do
The celebrity world has been a hive of hen and stag do activity of late, and some of the celebs who are known for their wild antics and mad sense of humour have knocked us out by having a super duper calm bash, or have ducked out of having any sort of stag do or hen party at all.
Take David Walliams, the Little Britain star and the man who also raised half a million quid for sport relief by swimming the channel. Now, if you got an invite for his stag do you would have put on a fancy dress frock, climbed into some dodgy high heels and got ready to tar and feather him naked to a lamppost outside a police station. However, this was not the case, he had a sit down meal at the celebrity hangout Nobu before moving on to The Met bar for a very civilised evening. He even had a lady join the stag festivities and she wasn’t a stripper but the lady he once described as his 'dream woman', singer Natalie Imbruglia.
Now if I mention Russell Brand the first thing that comes to mind is drugs, sex and rock and roll. However he appears to have taken a more sedate approach to the whole stag do and told a journalist “what would be the point of a stag do? I’m not drinking, don’t do drugs any more and I only sleep with Katy, so it would be more fun to just sit in an allotment and stare at a bunch of carrots”.

I feel he is being a tad narrow minded about modern day stag dos. A lot of our stag groups get together and do loads of great activities like rage buggies, white water rafting, gorge scrambling etc while having a good old catch up with their mates, rather than spending the whole day in the pub drinking themselves silly.
On the other scale of things, The Crown Princess of Sweden was kidnapped by her friends and taken on her hen do, which is a tradition in Sweden. She then partied on a boat for 2 days in Stockholm’s Archipelago (an Archipelago is lots of islands in a large body of water). Swedish stags and hens really do party and have many traditions, which need a whole stand alone article of their own.
Simon Cowell is also due to get married soon and apparently he will be having ladies as well as men attending his stag do bash, which is expected to be a low key lavish affair. Louis Walsh confirmed this to a journalist by saying “I don’t want to plan his stag do, though. I think his brother Nicholas will be doing that. Simon wouldn’t like to do much on his stag do. He’s not into going out and getting drunk. It’s not really him. I’m sure he’ll like to go out for a nice meal, a few drinks and a bit of fun, and maybe bring along a few girls!”
All in all most celebrities seem to be opting for a very hush hush tame stag or hen do, maybe to stop them getting papped??
