Bridesmaids' Style - Playing With Colour

A quick lesson in the colour wheel: adjacent colours complement, opposites contrast.

Keep this in mind when choosing dresses and accessories for your bridesmaids.  Don’t feel you have to find shoes, jewellery and bags in the same colour as the dress; toning or contrasting colour is a fresher, more modern look.

For example if your bridesmaid dresses are inky blue, a bright pink necklace will really set them off, or a pale aqua colour will be more subtle but avoid looking too matchy matchy.

Other great accessory colour combinations are:

  • Pink or red dresses = Emerald green jewellery
  • Green or aqua dresses = Statement ruby slippers
  • Orange or coral dresses = Purple flowers
  • Purple or aubergine dresses = Gold or bronze accessories

Have a play around until you find a colour combination you are happy with, but use the colour wheel as inspiration and you’re bound to create something really striking and individual.
