Grooms cars… are they traditional? No. Are they becoming more popular? Yes. Why? Because many a best man wants to give the groom a really different wedding present. The choice of cars available to grooms is huge, ranging from a million pound Bugatti Veyron to Del Boy’s yellow van, and most things in between.

Self Drive Grooms Cars

Most grooms cars are available for self drive or chauffeur driven. Yes, the Veyron is available self drive, but extremely difficult to get as it is virtually by invitation only and costs in the region of £17,500 a day! A little less expensive are the more usual supercars, such as the ubiquitous Ferrari and the beautiful Aston Martins. These usually range from £800 for a long weekend hire to £7,500 a day for a Ferrari Enzo. Three-day self drive weekend hire for a Hummer costs in the region of £1,300. Moving down the scale an E type jaguar will cost around £300 per day and a convertible Morris Minor about £150 a day.

If you are going down the route of self drive supercars you will need an exemplary driving record, a clean licence and a healthy bank balance!

Chauffeur Driven Grooms Cars

For chauffeur driven vehicles the choice is enormous and restricted only by your imagination. Del Boy’s van from Only Fools and Horses has turned up at many weddings with the groom and best man, as has the A-Team van with all the ushers as well.

Don’t forget some fabulous late fifties American fins and chrome, or of course a second classic car. With two cars you can simply mix and match so the bride and groom can ride in both cars; that can easily stop the first argument about which car to hire.

Just to put a slight damper on things, don’t forget you may need to add VAT. That’s around £3,500 if you’re in the market for the self drive Veyron.

Enjoy the experience.
