Wedding Cake Design Ideas
Every wedding cake designer will have a website full of wonderful cake design images for you to browse and take inspiration from, but if you want something totally unique, something that reflects your wedding completely, where do you start?
I always view plain iced cakes as a blank canvas on which to design and build on. I always ask brides to bring as much design material as possible, anything that reflects their wedding: dress designs, flower images, magazine shots, wallpaper swatches, invitation designs, venue details…..really anything that can help create an image of what the wedding will look like. All the wedding magazines provide wonderful images and stockists for some of the best wedding products and designs available, but perhaps think a little outside of the wedding ‘box’. Try browsing interiors magazines (Elle Decoration, Interiors), lifestyle shops and magazines. You may just see one image in a copy of interiors magazine that will exemplify your wedding completely, a garden shot with flowers, or the inside of a French Chateau.
Once you have established the design/theme of your wedding, it is then we start work on the cake design. Sometimes the design will be elaborate, sometimes just simple with fresh flowers, but whatever you choose or whatever your cake designer designs make sure that it says ‘you’!
